National Council Licensure Examination-Registered Nurses
The CGFNS Certification Program is designed specifically for first-level, general nurses educated and licensed outside the United States who wish to assess their chances of passing the U.S. Registered Nurse Licensing Exam, the NCLEX-RN examination, and attaining licensure to practice as registered nurses within the United States. Passing the CGFNS qualifying exam will help you to feel reasonably assured of success in the NCLEX-RN.
While the CGFNS tests on the theories and understanding of nurse profession, the NCLEX-RN is designed to make sure that each nurse has the knowledge to practice safely at a minimum of an entry-level registered nurse. In other words, while CGFNS is knowledge-based, testing you on the facts you have learned, the NCLEX-RN, however, is an application-based examination.
The law says that one must pass the NCLEX-RN test to qualify as a Registered Nurse, and also, this test has to be taken at the State where the nurse is going to practice. Therefore, while a Chinese nurse can travel to the U.S. after qualifying everything else, she can still not immediately practice as a Registered Nurse in the destination state, until she passes the NCLEX-RN test.
However, for a well prepared Indian nurse, passing NCLEX-RN test is not a problem. In fact, for her, passing the TOEFL (the English language test) is the most difficult test. Now that she has scored 540 or more at TOEFL, NCLEX-RN is just a matter of time
